George was a member of the 2004 State Championship-winning Dutch Fork High School team, coached by Mark Giles.

Each year, he was selected to the all-state and all-region teams. During the summer of 2006, he competed in the British Amateur.

In 2005, he qualified for the US Amateur and advanced to match play. He also qualified for the 2005 U.S. Junior Championships, where he reached the round of 32.

He won the CPGA Westfield in 2005, the Player’s Championship in 2005, the Florence Junior in 2005, and the Charles Tilghman in 2004.

He won the Joe Wyatt in 2003 and 2005 and the Capital City Classic in 2005. He also finished second at the 2005 Carolinas Junior Championships.
